The Ariana Necklace

This piece was hand-crafted in sterling silver by McTeigue & McClelland, a jeweler tracing its roots back to 1895 and well known for its exquisite designs and intricate craftsmanship. For more information on McTeigue & McClelland, visit www.mc2jewels.com.
The key symbolizes the unlocking of a brighter future for the youth of Afghanistan through education. McTeigue & McClelland designed and produced the Ariana Necklace as a gift to the Rebuilding Afghanistan Foundation (“RAF”). The proceeds from each necklace sold will provide three Afghan children with one year of education at the RAF-sponsored Mayar Elementary School in the province of Wardak, Afghanistan.
The butterfly design was inspired by the Micropsyche Ariana species, the smallest butterfly in the world, which is unique to Afghanistan. Its name translates to "tiny souls of Afghanistan". The butterfly also symbolizes the metamorphosis of Afghanistan into a self-sustaining democracy – just as butterflies are delicate and fragile, so too is a country in transition. This is why your support of education is so critical.
